Honesty and Transparancy Essential
I was saddened to learn that one of the groups fighting to get the RFSOs laws changed in this country is not being upfront and honest. I learned recently that a group presenting itself as representing women and their views about the Registry, is not only being run by a man but is also an RFSO. This person has a name that can be either a man or a woman's and he lets the women supporting his group believe he is a woman also. Now I am not against men and women fighting against these laws together or for that matter that an RFSO is leading a group. However these are facts that need to be known, especially when recruiting and raising funds. The one thing we all need to be aware of and promote is absolute honesty. We will lose credibility and become an even bigger target for the Antis and vigilantes out there. They are looking for any reason to discredit us and our movement and this kind of scandal will give them plenty of ammunition.

ReplyDeleteYou are absolutely correct in that something like this will harm ALL of us who are working to affect positive change and reform sex offender laws.
How could this group not know this? This is unbelievable to me.
From the information I have heard from reliable people that when people write and tell him what a wonderful woman he is for doing this he simply replies thank you and never tells them the truth that he's not a woman. But when the groups ownership was looked into the lawyer found that this man is owner and his wife the co-owner. So obviously their own members are not aware of him being a man if they write to him calling him a woman..... it's bad for the group and for all of us.
